Irrfan Khan would say, ‘khichdi bana lete hai’ to wife Sutapa Sikdar; late actor’s wife shares her kitchen memories with her husband : Bollywood News

Bollywood lost one of its most popular actors Irrfan Khan to cancer. While the actor’s family continues to preserve his legacy, a heartfelt comment from his wife reminded us how casual but easygoing this late actor was. Sutapa Sikdar shared one of her kitchen memories, sharing in her recent post about cultural differences between a Bangladeshi married to a North Indian and a mother who was not well versed in cooking – a post that was quite memorable for many married women.

Sutapa Sikdar shared a photo of a worn-out cookbook she found during one of her recent cleanups and explained why it was special. She said: “Cleaning up books isn’t a chore for me, it’s diving into old anecdotes and memories and I can spend hours turning pages and with each cover the places, people, the smell, the sound of that place come to life. to live. Every time.. afternoon best spent. and I found this torn book today.! And the memories came gurgling out like water. I could feel the sweat on my forehead ions ago the smell of fried onion I hated the next day still stuck on the kitchen curtains..the sea ate like a sleeveless Maxie I used to wear to cook..the sound of BEST buses passing by the kitchen grates honk..that lonely tulsi tree..irrfan coming into the kitchen smoking and giving me a puff with a helpless look on his face..”arre yaar khichri bana lete. .”

She even thanked the book’s author for the Butter Chicken recipe, which seems to be quite popular among her sons. She added: “There was a big transition in my life and food from Bangladeshi to North Indian and as I didn’t like marriage and domesticity I couldn’t cook. New to Bombay with no family and no cook. I was up are nervous to say the least.Without a youtube channel we learned the hard way..we bought cookbooks. Thanks Mrs Balbeer sing I don’t know who you are but thanks for saving my life.#irrfan #earlylife #memoriesforever”

Interestingly, the post was found by author Balbir Singh’s grandchild, who decided to comment on it, adding: “So nice to read your memories of my grandmother’s book ???? Always been a great been a fan of the sweetest and most special actors #irrfankhan ?????? Pallavi x Best wishes to Babil for his Netflix show! We will definitely watch!”
