Chris Christie hits back at Trump’s weight criticism

Donald Trump’s disparaging comments about Chris Christie’s weight didn’t dissuade the former New Jersey governor, who responded on Sunday’s edition of “Mediabuzz,” “Oh, like he’s an Adonis?”

“Once Trump started hitting back at you on multiple fronts, he took aim at your weight. What was your reaction to that?” Fox News’ Howard Kurtz Asked Christie, who announced on June 6 that he was running for president in 2024.

“Oh, like he’s an Adonis? I mean please, Christie replied, laughing at Kurtz. Christie said there are millions of Americans who struggle with their weight like her and strive to improve every day, adding, “I keep fighting and trying to get better.”

The former governor continued to argue that his weight had not hindered him from serving his elected terms from 2010 to 2018 as he responded to Hurricane Sandy and worked more than 20 hours per day.

“What does this have to do with my qualifications for office?” Christie asked. “I think I ran the governorship in New Jersey very energetically and successfully for eight years.”

Christie continued, “I don’t know what he meant.” “It’s like a kid, a bully in the school yard who teases you and makes fun of you. But here’s my message to him: I don’t care what he says about me and I don’t care what he thinks about me.

Christie also encouraged Trump to avoid being a stone’s throw from his own glass house. “He should take a look in the mirror from time to time, maybe cross the weight thing off his list of criticisms.”

Christie, whose past loyalty to Trump has shifted drastically in recent years, hit out at the former president when he announced his candidacy for the 2024 election, calling Trump a “bitter, angry man.”
