Talk showrunner Kristin Matthews is stepping down at CBS

“The Talk” showrunner Kristin Matthews is stepping down from her position with the CBS talk show after 13 years, she announced Friday.

The series’ long-running EP helped launch the show 13 years ago as coordinating producer. No replacement has yet been announced.

“After 13 years, the time is right for me to make a change and I will not be returning next season,” Matthews said in a statement to TheWrap. “I helped launch The Talk in 2010 and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished with the show over the past 13 seasons. We’ve worked together to achieve so much success, laughter, ratings, Emmys, love and tears – everything you can expect to experience by producing over 2,500 episodes. I’m truly grateful for the incredible team I’ve had the opportunity to lead, as well as all the wonderful staff, crew and hosts I’ve worked with during my time on the show.”

Matthews, a multi-daytime Emmy winner, served as executive producer and showrunner of “The Talk” for the past three years, starting as coordinating producer on the series and becoming co-executive producer in August 2012. “The Talk” won. Prior to “The Talk”, Matthews worked elsewhere in the studio, producing “The Early Show” at CBS News from 2001–2007. He began his career in production at “NBC Nightly News” and “Today”.
