Sonam Kapoor is back in movies with Blind but this time on OTT, JioCinema. Sonam was last seen in The Zoya Factor with Dulquer Salman in 2019. The actress shot for the film Blind in 2020 and ended in 2021. Blind has been waiting for release ever since. And it’s coming out straight to OTT right now. Based on the 2011 South Korean original film of the same name, Sonam Kapoor is directed by debutante director Shome Makhija. Sonam makes a comeback of sorts with Blind. Although it is a remake, the trailer of the film does indeed look promising. Is the action thriller worth watching on OTT? Does Blind starring Sonam Kapoor keep you hooked till the end? Read our review below:
What is the movie Blind about?
Sonam Kapoor plays an ex-police officer in Blind and an unforeseen circumstance causes her to lose her eyesight. She has an encounter with a serial killer who hunts young females and picks them up and locks them in the basement. After the encounter, Gia seeks out the police who don’t believe her at first. Vinay Pathak plays a detective inspector who is impressed by her knowledge and skills, believes her and takes on the case. Gia wants to end the serial killings and disappearances. And despite having no eyesight, she is much more capable. However, she has her demons to fight and the sudden loss of vision has left her crippled. She survives with the help of a guide dog named Elsa. The serial killer tracks her down when he realizes she and a boy are witnessing the crime in action and the police are on their trail. The clock keeps ticking and before she can reach the killer, it reaches her.

What’s hot?
First, the action sequences are good. Sonam Kapoor goes all out to play a blind woman. She does a great job as a blind cop and is also good at action sequences. Vinay Pathak does a good job as DI. Shubham Saraf plays Nikhil, the other witness in the case. He delivers a serious performance that holds the film and is a good support for Sonam and Vinay in many places. Purab Kohli is a revelation and will surprise you with his menacing serial killer act. His performance as a cold-blooded kidnapper and killer will scare the hell out of you and it will stay with you for a while.
What not?
The script is too predictable and superficial. It won’t leave you guessing at all. The jump scares don’t scare you off either. The characters seem underdeveloped. Prithvi Khanna, Vinay Pathak’s character is the typical police inspector with the intention of providing some comic relief, but it doesn’t fit well despite the actor doing a good job. By the end, Blind seems dragged. Trimming the film wouldn’t have hurt at all.
BL verdict: While the movie has serious performances, the suspense element seems to be largely missing. Goes with 1.5 stars.
