Aamir Khan protagonist Laal Singh Chaddha been in the news for the wrong reasons. Since the trailer was released, the film has faced backlash with ‘Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha’ trending on social media. Followed by that, the film also performed quite poorly at the box office, with further losses. Though the film received huge acclaim from industry insiders, it failed to impress audiences. Now producer Ekta Kapoor has come to support the Bollywood star and was seen claiming that a superstar like Aamir Khan cannot be boycotted.
Ekta Kapoor comes out in support of Aamir Khan after Laal Singh Chaddha’s debacle; says “All Khans in Bollywood especially Aamir Khan are legends”
TV Tzarina and Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor was recently spotted discussing the issue of boycotting Laal Singh Chaddha. She also held that a star like Aamir Khan is a soft ambassador, who has done huge business in the past and therefore cannot be boycotted from the industry. She was quoted in Navbharat Times as saying: “It is so strange that we are boycotting the very people who have given the best of business in the industry. All the khans in the industry (Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan), especially Aamir Khan are legends. We cannot boycott them. Aamir Khan can never be boycotted, the soft ambassador Aamir Khan cannot be boycotted.”
From social media boycott trends to protests, the Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor starrer has faced a lot of trouble since the trailer’s release. In fact, a theatrical showing of the film was halted halfway through in Jalandhar, where a fringe group protested its release. He was also charged in Delhi by a lawyer for misrepresenting the Indian military.
Laal Singh Chaddhadirected by Advait Chandan, is a remake of the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. It appeared on August 11.
