The Tiger Shroff actor Heropanti 2 was released with much fanfare earlier this year. Unfortunately, it bombed at the box office due to poor word of mouth. All was not lost for him though, as he has two big movies in his kitty, ganapath and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Last month Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions announced that they will be producing Screw Dheela, with Tiger. A huge announcement video was also launched, showing a frightened Tiger Shroff being interrogated by goons. He initially poses as an innocent PT teacher. But suddenly he enters action mode and attacks the bad guys. Meanwhile, there are reports that Rashmika Mandanna from pushpa fame plays into Tiger’s love interest Screw Dheela. A few reports also mentioned that Shanaya Kapoor or Janhvi Kapoor could pack the part.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that there is something new about this film. The source said: “Karan Johar and director Shashank Khaitan have decided to put the film on the back burner. There were several reasons for this. Firstly, the film is a full-scale action entertainer and the budget ran to Rs. 150 million dollars. Meanwhile, the teaser didn’t quite get the encouraging response the creators were hoping for. Tiger’s Heropanti 2 was a disaster and it put a question mark on his pull at the ticket window. Finally, the box office scenario is terrible right now, especially how Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s raksha bandhan put down terrible numbers.”
The source continued: “Keeping all these factors in mind, all stakeholders felt that it is not wise to use this film on the floor right now. Screw Dheela is not stored. The team hopes to visit this film later when the box office environment is conducive.”
For Shashank Khaitan, this isn’t the first time his film has been pushed after a major announcement. In February 2018 it was announced that he will be directing Rannbhoomi, starring Varun Dhawan. The film was later shelved. In August 2020, Shashank opened this film and said that: Rannbhoomi needed a massive budget due to world class special effects. Therefore, it was decided not to make the film at that time. Then he planned to make a spy thriller with Varun and unfortunately it could never see the light of day.
Later he would make a movie titled Yoddha with Shahid Kapoor. It was suspended, citing pandemic restrictions. Although Karan Johar is producing a movie titled Yodha, starring Sidharth Malhotra, it would be different from Shashank Khaitan’s film. Shashank is one of the producers of this film.
Shashank Khaitan would then direct Mr Lele, with Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar. Varun also shot for a funny first look. The film was delayed and then renamed Govinda Name Mera. Varun Dhawan left the film while Vicky Kaushal came on board.
Finally, Shashank was going to direct Khaitan bedhadak. It is supposed to be Shanaya Kapoor’s debut. Gurfateh Pirzada and Lakshya Lalwani are also part of the film’s cast. The makers launched several posters in March 2020. According to the latest reports, the recording has been delayed by a year and will now hit the floor in 2023.
