The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp stars the idolThe second teaser is here and it’s Hollywood’s “slopiest love story.” Co-created by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, co-wrote the project. The second teaser also shows more of BLACKPINK’s musician Jennie, who is making her international acting debut.
The Idol Teaser: The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Troye Sivan Star in Hollywood’s ‘Slopiest Love Story’ in Spicy New Video
The new glimpse shows the spirited and daring lives of stars and introduces the cast. Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey and Hank Azaria are slated to appear on the show.
The Idol was first announced last June when it was reported that HBO was developing a show with The Weeknd as co-writer and executive producer, along with its production partner Reza Fahim and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. Kevin Turen, Aaron Gilbert for Bron, Ashley Levinson, Nick Hall, Sara E. White and A24 are also executive producers. Set in the world of the Los Angeles music industry, the drama follows a self-help guru and leader of a modern cult who develops a complicated relationship with a rising pop singer. In November, HBO ordered The Idol for series.
Joe Epstein was named showrunner, with executive producer Amy Seimetz directing all six episodes. Epstein and Seimetz are also attached to executive products.
