Kamal Haasan returns to playing a vigilante avatar with Indian 2. Amid many reports of the film being shelved, the creators, Lyca Productions and director Shankar Shanmughan have ended all rumors by also releasing the new poster of Indian 2. Director Shankar also took to social media to announce that he would be resuming shooting after a two-year hiatus.

Shankar S and Lyca Productions took to Instagram to reveal the latest poster from Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan as an old vigilante amid a red background. On the other hand, Shankar S took to Twitter to announce that the team will resume shooting after their hiatus. Director Shankar confirmed this, saying, “Good morning Indians, we are pleased to announce that the remaining shooting for Indian 2 starts today! Need all your support and wishes????????”
The film had taken off about three years ago and later, in February 2020, the shooting of the film was abruptly stopped due to an accident. Reports said three people died on the sets, leaving ten others injured after the heavy lights crashed.
In addition, the film was also slightly delayed due to the pandemic. There were also few other rumors claiming that the lead actress Kajal Aggarwal wasn’t eager to do it after she went on her maternity vacation. However, now that all this has come to an end, the makers have confirmed that not only has the film resumed, but it will also feature two protagonists, just like the prequel.
While Indonesian starring Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar as lead actors, the sequel will feature Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh along with Bobby Simha and Priya Bhavani Shankar in pivotal roles. Further, Indian 2 is expected to be multilingual and will have Anirudh Ravichander compose the music together with Ravi Varman as cinematographer.
