The sudden death of Sonali Phogat has raised many eyebrows. Haryana BJP leader, actor and former Bigg Boss 14 contestant died in Goa after complaining about unease on Monday night. She was taken to hospital around 8am on Tuesday morning, where she was pronounced dead. Initially, it was said that Sonali died after a suspected cardiac arrest. However, a murder case has now been registered in Goa after Sonali’s family alleged a conspiracy in her death.
According to the autopsy report, there were multiple blunt injuries on Sonali’s body. The autopsy was performed after the Phogat family gave their consent. Sonali’s sister claimed she felt uneasy after eating her food, which may have been fortified.
Earlier, Sonali’s younger brother Rinku Dhaka claimed that the former Bigg Boss contestant had been raped and blackmailed. He accused Sonali’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and his friend Sukhwinder of raping her by adding intoxicants to her food and blackmailing her by making videos.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday that state police are thoroughly investigating the death of Haryana BJP leader and actor, but on the face of it, cardiac arrest appears to have been the cause. Goa Congress leader and former AICC secretary Girish Chodankar also demanded a fair investigation into Sonali’s death and stated that Goa’s ministers should not pressure doctors to compromise the autopsy report.
Sonali was a TikTok star and Bigg Boss 14 contestant in 2020; she played the wife of a don modeled after the infamous Haji Mastan in the Zee TV series Amma opposite Nawab Shah; she appeared in a Bhojpuri movie with Ravi Kishan, now the BJP MP from Gorakhpur; and she lost to Kuldeep Bishnoi, then a congressman, in his family neighborhood of Adampur in the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections.
