The Legacy of the House of Fire and Blood Unraveled on August 22 on Disney+ Hotstar as the highly anticipated HBO series, House of the Dragon, premiered in all its glory. Based on George RR Martin’s book Fire and Blood, the 10-episode series is the remarkable, turbulent story of the House of Targaryen, set 200 years before the events that hit global audiences in Game of Thrones.

Now the series has been renewed for Season 2 right after the Season 1 premiere. “We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with Season One,” Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming told The Hollywood Reporter. “Our phenomenal cast and crew have taken on a huge challenge and exceeded all expectations, with a show that has already proven itself as a must-see TV. Huge thanks to [co-creator and executive producer George R.R. Martin and co-creator and showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik] to lead us on this journey. We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing House Targaryen’s epic saga to life with season two.”

Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon on HBO reached a record audience as nearly 10 million viewers (9.986 million) watched the premiere Sunday night. According to the latest update, the premiere episode has been watched by more than 20 million viewers.

The series is a gripping saga that takes us deep into the extraordinary world of Westeros and explores the Targaryen family – the all-powerful dragon riders who are the seemingly invincible rulers of the seven kingdoms. Bitter rivalry, jealousy, lust, the quest for power and betrayal will tear the Targaryens apart and threaten to destroy a dynasty that has ruled untouchable for a century.

Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, Clare Kilner, Geeta Vasant Patel and Greg Yaitanes, with George RR Martin, Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik along with Sara Hess, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt, as executive producers. While the series is a prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon features an individual storyline with new characters played by an impressive cast including Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel and Sonoya Mizuno.
