South Korean network KBS has confirmed that the recent release of female pop group BLACKPINK ‘Pink Poison’ does not qualify for the “Music Bank” chart.

BLACKPINK’s ‘Pink Venom’ Doesn’t Qualify For Ranking On Korea’s Singles Chart, Music Bank; this is why

According to the Korean media portal Soompi, ‘Pink Poison’ has been notably absent from the weekly charts on KBS 2TV’s Music Bank (which the music show refers to as “K-Chart”) since its release last month, even as two of BLACKPINK’s older tracks –“Lovesick Girls” and “Like it’s your last”—made the last chart at No. 38 and No. 40, respectively.

The report cites the mention of a luxury brand name (Celine) in the lyrics, which was found to be in violation of Section 46 of the Broadcast Act. Since the group’s label, YG Entertainment, has chosen not to change the lyrics, ‘Pink Poison’ was not included in the “Music Bank” K-Chart rankings.

Notably, the song topped other weekly music award programs like MBCs Show ChampionMnet’s M Countdown and SBSs Inkigayo. Meanwhile BLACKPINK is currently gearing up for the release of their second full length album BORN PINK, with the title track ‘Shut down’ on Sept 16.
