Paramount+ has announced additional actors who will join Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in Taylor Sheridan’s “1923,” the latest “Yellowstone” prequel to series mastermind Taylor Sheridan.
The new show features Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Amina Nieves and Julia Schlaffer, along with Ford and Mirren.
According to Paramount, “1923” follows “1883”, the most-watched Paramount+ title of all time globally. That prequel starred Sam Elliott, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Isabel May and Lamonica Garrett. While there was some confusion about whether more episodes of “1883” would be ordered, the focus instead shifted to another prequel series (originally dubbed “1932”) with a spin-off of “1883”. Gaya, this time centered around the historical figure Bass. Reeves (who may have been the inspiration for the Lone Ranger), also in the works.
“‘1923’ will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and trace the beginning of the 20th century when pandemics, historic droughts, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all called the mountains in the West and Dutton home,” said one official. Plot synopsis reads from Paramount.
Paramount also revealed who everyone else would play in “1923.”
• Harrison Ford will play Yellowstone Ranch custodian Jacob Dutton, Kara Dutton’s husband and James Dutton’s brother.
• Helen Mirren will play Jacob Dutton’s wife and head of the family, Kara Dutton.
• Darren Mann will play Jack Dutton, John Dutton Sr.’s son and Jacob Dutton’s great-nephew. He is a dedicated rancher who is deeply loyal to his family.
• Michelle Randolph will play Elizabeth Strafford, a spirited and capable young woman ready to marry into the Dutton family.
• James Badge will play Dale Jacob Dutton’s oldest nephew and right-hand man John Dutton Sr.
• Marley Shelton will play Emma Dutton, the dutiful wife of John Dutton Sr. and mother of Jack Dutton.
• Brian Geraghty will play Zane, an extremely loyal ranch foreman.
• Amina Neeves will play Teona Rainwater, a young woman at a government residential boarding school.
• Julia Schlaffer will play Alexandra, a British woman who meets Dutton abroad.
The new show is set to debut on Paramount+ this December, with Taylor Sheridan joining a growing number of projects that will debut this fall, including the mothership “Yellowstone” series (back on the Paramount Network on November 13). ; “Tulsa King” starring Sylvester Stallone, outside the “Yellowstone” universe (also November 13, on Paramount+); and several non-“Yellowstone” projects that have yet to receive release dates, including “Lioness” (starring Zoe Saldana), “Land Man” (starring Billy Bob Thornton) and a second season (starring The Mayor of Kingstown) ) Are included.
