EXCLUSIVE: Amazon Prime has decided not to record a second season of paper girl, his sci-fi series based on the graphic novel by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. The decision comes just over a month after all eight episodes of the first season were released on July 29, to a strong critical acclaim, garnering a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which was soon followed by an equally impressive 88% viewership .

According to sources, Legendary TV will buy the series to capitalize on series popularity euphoria and Sex Life of College Girls by offering another show with three-dimensional young female characters at the center.
The sci-fi series is about four young girls who unknowingly get caught up in a conflict between enemy factions of time travelers while delivering the newspaper on the morning after Halloween in 1988, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world. The show served as a career launch pad for its young breakout stars Sofia Rosinksy, Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet and Fina Strazza, who are joined in the cast by Ali Wong.
paper girl, which didn’t make Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, was among shows whose launch may have been overshadowed by Prime Video’s tent pole LOTR: The Rings of Power and the massive marketing campaign that surrounded it.
The series is produced by Christopher C. Rogers, Stephany Folsom, Christopher Cantwell, Brian K. Vaughan, Cliff Chiang, Steven Prinz and Plan B. The series was created for television by Folsom, who stepped down as co-showrunner during the production of Season 1, in which Rogers becomes the sole showrunner. Folsom is already back in business with Legendary TV. King Kong (working title), a series for Disney+ that follows the original story of the famous monster.
