Morfydd Clark says she had no idea she auditioned for The Lord of the Rings on her first reading

Morfydd Clark is the star of Amazon’s latest series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. She takes over the role of Galadriel, a role previously played by Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson’s original trilogy. With three episodes now available on Prime Video, the series will be one of the most expensive and comprehensive shows ever to go into production. But despite the high budget and connection to one of the most beloved franchises in the world, Clark says she had no idea what she was auditioning for when she first arrived for her lecture.

“When I auditioned, it was just called Untitled Amazon Project. Someone in my audition room said, ‘You know what this is? It’s The Lord of the Rings.’ I’m forever grateful to them because then I went to the bathroom and took a few deep breaths, stared at myself in the mirror and thought, ‘You’ve got to change everything you’ve decided to do for this audition, because now you know more. ‘ I didn’t know who I was auditioning for, which in my case was probably pretty good, because that would have been overwhelming, and then I arrived in New Zealand, and then I found out who I was playing for and just about everything with the We had four months before we started filming and training. There was still quite a bit of time for me to understand what was going on.”

When she heard she was auditioning for a part in a Lord of the Rings project certainly put some pressure on the audition. However, understanding the scope of the series and its importance may have helped her land the role.

Clark calls her role as Galadriel a once-in-a-lifetime experience

Being part of Under the spell of the Ring franchise would be a dream come true for any fan of the fantasy genre. Clark agrees, saying that the experience of making The rings of power was full of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

“When you’re filming something like that, I’ve had so many once-in-a-lifetime experiences in two years, I just can’t believe it happened. You’re still pinching yourself all the time. It’s like those games that you used to play as a kid, but that are realized in the most epic way, and then seeing that it’s a whole different version of that, and other people seeing it is a whole different version, it just keeps coming. is like endless waves of, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.’”

Clark will presumably remain in the role for the series’ planned five seasons, as we know Galadriel will survive thousands of years leading up to the events of Under the spell of the Ring. The Prime Video series will continue to change Clark’s life for years to come, which the actress will no doubt applaud. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres every Friday on Prime Video, with the show’s first three episodes available now.
