‘We Can Sorrow the Queen and Not the Empire’ (VIDEO)

The topic on the mind of “The Views” on Friday morning was the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96 this week.

While the talk show host agreed that the Queen lived a life worthy of honor and respect, Sunny Hostin highlighted how she has seen many negative reactions to her death online from various minority communities. He concluded that “we can mourn the queen, not the kingdom.”

Hostin began by recalling her time in London and the nation’s embrace of traditions like the royal family, changing of the guards and more: “I think we all love glam and pageantry,” she admitted. . But he also said that the Taj is not without criticism or controversy.

“If you really think about what the monarchy was built on, it was built on the backs of black and brown people. That’s it. [Queen Elizabeth II] wore a crown with pillars of India and Africa,” Hostin said. “What you are seeing now, at least in the black communities that I am a part of, they want to be reevaluated.”

When Ana Navarro later pointed out that the United States was similarly built on the backs of black and brown people, Hostin insisted, “And we want Our Compensation!” to applause from the studio audience.

He also considered the role that the newly crowned King Charles could play in easing these tensions.

“Right now, Charles is in a position – I think he has 14 colonies that he is now head of state, which includes Australia and Canada, I believe, if I am right. It is up to him to modernize this monarchy. And it’s time for them to provide compensation for all those colonies,” Hostin said. “I also think, you know, raising a monarchy, a family is very easy, the hardest thing of all. Families have to be uplifted, and I think he’s in a position to be able to do that.”
