‘HSMTMTS’ season 4 gets meta as the OG cast returns

This is the crossover we’ve all been waiting for. It looks like the cast of the original “High School Musical” movies and the cast of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” will clash in Season 4 of the Disney+ series.

After spending a summer at camp, the Wildcats are returning to school for Season 4, only to find that they will be featured in the extravaganza in the long-awaited “High School Musical 4: The Reunion”, which is currently their Filming in school. ,

And speaking of original films, the East High students will return to their roots for their fourth musical. This year, they will perform “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”.

This, of course, begs the question of why so many “HSM” alums have been spotted at East High lately, including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Casey Stroh. While Disney hasn’t fully confirmed whether they’ll be joining the season yet, it would be quite disappointing if they don’t upset fans after their recent social media post shared in front of the high school.

Season 3 of “HSMTMTS,” which premiered on July 27, begins as a “high-stakes” production of “Frozen” by the Wildcats at a Southern California sleepaway camp. As always, there is the usual set of romance and drama, all set against the backdrop of the great outdoors.

But really, what is this fourth installment of the franchise about? Well, only time will tell. The cast didn’t reveal much about what to expect on that front, but they did give a little taste of the entire season when they spoke with TheWrap at D23 Expo on Saturday.

“It would blow people away. When we got the new script and everything, all the actors were nervous, so it’s so exciting,” Joshua Bassett told TheWrap. “’High School Musical’ made us… so to come back [the third film] Really special. I personally think people are going to enjoy it, and I’m excited to see what we do with it.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time the original cast has made an appearance on the series. Lucas Grabeel made a cameo in Season 1, and Corbin Bleu returned for Season 3. Speaking with TheWrap ahead of the Season 3 premiere, Bleu — who was involved with the series in the first season off-screen — said that producer Tim Federley was instrumental in it. Getting your head back in the game.

“They really made me so comfortable and part of the process to be able to feel comfortable coming back to the franchise,” Blue said. “I will always say, if I ever had to come back it would have been in the right conditions and he totally made it.” (Blue spoke and posed with her former “HSM” co-star Monique Coleman at the premiere. When asked if the latter would return to the franchise in a given role, Blue replied, “I hope so.) .”)
