In December 2021, the Raveena tendon starrer Aranyak was released on the OTT streaming platform Netflix. Set in the fictional town of Sironah, in Himachal Pradesh, the series follows two morally upright officers battling their own inner demons in an attempt to find the person responsible for the alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl. Upon its release, Aranyak received a very positive response from both the public and critics. But now Bollywood Hungama has learned that Netflix India has canceled the second season of Aranyak.
Netflix India Drops Raveena Tandon Starrer Aranyak Season 2
If what we’re hearing is true, Netflix has apparently decided to cancel season 2 of Aranyak because of the ROI. A well-known source says: “OTT platforms have become even stricter about the content they contain, and Netflix is no stranger to this. This is a conscious effort to encourage more content-driven shows and movies that connect with audiences. will have.” The source continued, adding, “This isn’t the first show that Netflix has canceled. Previously, the streaming giant had also released the second season of Madhuri Dixit starrer The Fame Game. In both cases, Netflix apparently wasn’t happy with the story, script and ROI and decided to forgo development for the second seasons.”
Interestingly, even though the show has been canceled, for now we’re being told that the creators of Aranyak will have a chance to revisit the second season’s content and re-develop the same. In such a case, Netflix could re-offer the second season and give it the green light. However, as things stand, Aranyak won’t be returning for a second season anytime soon.
