Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams Message to Emmy Nominees

Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams has a message for all Emmy nominees ahead of Monday’s ceremony.

“Hi, I’m Addams on Wednesday. The faceless suits at Netflix explained to me that you are all competing for a gold statuette,” the video begins. “Apparently you believe it will give you validation and fill that lonely void inside you. Spoiler alert. That won’t happen.”

Posted to the official Twitter account for the upcoming Netflix series, the 30-second video features Ortega as the self-proclaimed “tortured writer, emphasis on torture.” Staring dead-eyed into the camera, she shares her wise advice with the award winners:

“I suggest you do what I do: embrace the void,” she says. “Wrap it around you like a cold, wet blanket.”

The clip also features beloved Addams Family member “Thing” — a disembodied hand eager to help, if “you still need a pat on the back” from disappointment, according to Wednesday.

But sharing a friendly bit of advice wasn’t enough to appease the “faceless suits” at the latter’s house. Addams Family amendment.

“The faceless suits at @Netflix have asked me to congratulate tonight’s Emmy nominees,” the account said in a tweet minutes after the video was posted. “I warned them.” Instead of a real congratulationsa follow-up tweet simply listed a handful of nominees, including Ted Lasso, Succession, Squid Game, and Weird stuff.

Do not be at bitter, Wednesday – you’ll get them next year.

Tim Burton Says Ortega Was Perfect For Wednesday’s Role, And Christina Ricci Agrees

Between her role as Lorraine in Ti West’s X and appear in the latest episode of the scream franchise has Jenna Ortega her position as the screaming queen to watch – and Wednesday Director Tim Burton says it was a natural choice to cast her in the dark comedy about the chaos and murder-loving underage.

“She’s like a silent movie actress in the sense that she can convey things without words,” Burton said in a promo clip released by Netflix ahead of the show’s premiere. “Seeing the inner life and the subtleties was very exciting. And that’s why we’re very lucky to have Jenna, because I can’t imagine another Wednesday.”

And as if Burton’s praise wasn’t enough, Ortega’s performance was endorsed by the most iconic Wednesday Addams herself: Christina Ricci.

“I just had a very nice experience on [the show] with Jenna, she’s great,” said the actress, who played the wiry Addams daughter in the 1990s The Addams family and the sequel. “I think people have tasted her on Wednesday now, and it’s going to be fantastic.”

Netflix’s Wednesday is scheduled to premiere later this year, but the exact date is still TBA.
