Emmy Awards 2022 Winners: See the Full List

The 74th Annual Emmy Awards proved to be somewhat of a surprise night, with the win largely playing out according to predictions — including TheWrap’s own Steve Pond, who predicted last week that there would be no sweep as the top show — ” Succession,” “Ted Lasso,” “Squid Game” and “Abbott Elementary” — all made it out for dominance.

In the end, it was HBO’s limited series “The White Lotus” that took home the most trophies, five, with writer-director-executive-producer Mike White winning three.

“Ted Lasso” won four Emmys for supporting actor (Brett Goldstein), lead actor (Jason Sudeikis) and repeating his 2021 win in comedy series — and added directing for a comedy series (MJ Delaney). “Succession” took home three statues, including Outstanding Drama Series, which it last won in 2020.

Netflix’s megahit from South Korea, “Squid Game,” may have lost Best Drama Series to “Succession,” but it made history: for directors Hwang Dong-hyuk and Lee Jung-jae, who created many a prophetic favorite, Brian Cox, for lead actor.

Other historic victories: Zendaya, the youngest person ever to win a lead acting Emmy twice (for “Euphoria”); Sherrill Lee Ralph, from “Abbott Elementary,” the first black woman to win supporting actress in a comedy in 35 years; And Lizzo, whose competition program, “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Girls,” is the first show to win that category in its first season. That victory was one of the few surprises of the night.

Warner Bros. Discovery claimed 40 Emmys overall (including 38 for HBO and HBO Max), best rivaling Netflix, which had 26.
