Zac Efron Is Impressed With Best Beer Run Script Ever, Calls It ‘Absolutely Incredible’

Zac Efron has seen some great scripts throughout his career, including: The greatest showman, the disaster artistand Extremely bad, shockingly bad and mean. The 34-year-old actor has been in the spotlight for nearly two decades, with his breakout performance in High School Musicaldebuted on Disney Channel in 2006. Efron would follow a year later with the sequel, breaking cable viewing records at the time with 17.5 million viewers.


Efron’s next project is The biggest beer run ever, slated for release in theaters and on AppleTV+. In the film, the actor will participate in the Vietnam War while supplying beer to his childhood friends, with a writing team consisting of Brian Hayes Currie, Pete Jones and Peter Farrelly. The actor recently spoke with Deadlineand according to Efron, the script for the film is “absolutely incredible”.

“This was a rare moment when you — I get a lot of scripts to read these days and it’s pretty rare that you get through them in one sitting without being able to put them down. And I just kept flipping forward to see that it was based on a true story and said, “This is absolutely unbelievable.” There’s a flow in the writing and in the progression of the story, that’s just really well paced and I don’t know, it’s gripping.”

He continues, saying that during his journey he experienced something that he never thought would be possible.

“Before you know it you’re on this journey, and you’re experiencing something that you haven’t dreamed of being a part of in a million years. And I thought it was about something really powerful that you know and Chickie’s character was just so nice and so, you know, had so much compassion and passion to achieve his goal and to see his friends and support them So I mean I read it and just thought ‘This is too good to be true, Sign me up.’

The biggest beer run ever arrives this month

The biggest beer run ever should be a fun adventure to join as Efron embodies Chickie Donohue’s character in the movie, based on a true story. The film’s official synopsis reads: “A man’s story about leaving New York in 1967 to bring beer to his childhood friends in the military while fighting in Vietnam.”

The film comes from Peter Farrelly, with previous credits including: pass, Movie 43and Green Book. The biggest beer run ever is based on a book of the same name written by John “Chick” Donohue and JT Molloy, following Donohue’s eight weeks in Vietnam delivering beer to his friends and other soldiers in battle. Efron’s upcoming movie is slated to release in select theaters, featuring The biggest beer run ever makes its worldwide debut on AppleTV+ later this month, on September 30.
