Disappointed: the plot

With the release of the new trailer, fans not only got a glimpse of the disappointed live-action musical comedy, but also got more details about the film’s story. The synopsis of the film reads:

It’s been 15 years since Giselle and Robert got married, but Giselle has become disillusioned with life in the city, so they move their growing family to the sleepy suburb of Monroeville in search of a more fairytale-like life. Sadly, that’s not the case. The quick fix she’d been hoping for Suburbia has a whole new set of rules and a local queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), making Giselle feel more out of place than ever.

Frustrated that her happily ever after isn’t so easy to find, she turns to the magic of Andalasia for help, accidentally turning the entire town into a real fairytale and endangering her family’s future happiness. Now Giselle is in a race against time to undo the spell and determine what truly means happily ever after to her and her family.”

disappointed‘s summary suggests that Disney can maintain enchanted‘s original model to jump from animation to live-action and stay true to what gave the first film its most creative edge. The composite forms of artistry were instrumental for enchanted to leave such a memorable impact, and it is believed that: disappointed will carry over the most striking elements of its predecessor.

Disappointed: The Cast

Amy Adams will reprise her role as Giselle in disappointed. This comes as no surprise given that director Adam Shankman first signed up for the sequel, Adams said: On The Graham Norton Show:

“They have a director and they’re developing a script. I hope I’m in it. I’m not letting anyone else play Giselle!”

Other actors to reprise their roles include Patrick Dempsey as Robert, Giselle’s husband, James Marsden as Prince Edward and Idina Menzel as Nancy. The original quadruple was featured as prominent characters in enchanted, and their involvement in the sequel first came from composer Alan Menken.
