Sinead O’Connor Doc Nothing Compares To Release Date, Trailer

Showtime announced today that “Nothing Compares,” a feature documentary about musician Sinead O’Connor, will debut in select theaters on September 23 and air on September 30 (for Showtime subscribers) before streaming on October 2. The film will be released theatrically in the UK and Ireland on 7 October.

Directed by Katherine Ferguson (“Taking the Waters,” “Space to Be”), the “Nothing Compares” singer’s rise to global fame and how her outspoken persona drove her from mainstream pop music.

According to Showtime, the film will draw from archival material, music videos, live performances and unseen footage, focusing on his life from 1987 to 1993.

“Nothing Compares” was an official selection in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. It won Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleece, the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Aegean Film Festival, and the Audience Award at Docs Ireland.

The film is produced by Eleanor Emptage and Michael Malli in association with Field of Vision for Tara Films (UK) and Ard Mhacha Productions (Ireland). Executive producers are Charlotte Cook, Leslie McKim, Lucy Pullin, John Reynolds and Lisa Marie Russo. The film was supported by Screen Ireland, BFI Doc Society Fund, IE:Entertainment and Northern Ireland Screen.
