Actress Priyanka Chopra attended the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday as a representative of UNICEF. Opening her speech, the global star said it is important for leaders to come together to secure the “base of a just world that we have fought for”. She went on to add that while “all is not well” with the world, there is a plan that can fix it – “UN Sustainable Development Goals”.

While sharing some inside images and a video of her speech via her social media handle, Chopra offered some highlights from the conference. During the event, Baywatch actress weighed in on some of the world’s most pressing issues, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crisis and poverty.
In the video clip, she can be heard: “Today we meet at a critical point in our world, at a time when global solidarity is more important as countries continue to struggle with the devastating effects of the COVID-19, as the climate crisis affects lives, while rage conflicts; while poverty, displacement, hunger and inequalities destroy the foundation of a just world we have fought for for so long.”
On the other hand, speaking about how education has been challenging for girls in India and in different parts of the world, she said: “I am convinced that education is just the cornerstone of equality, social justice, social change and democracy.”
Meanwhile, Chopra can be seen posing with Malala Yousafzai, Amanda Gorman and others in the photos. Part of her long caption read: “Walking through the gates of the United Nations this morning to speak at the UNGA for the second time”.
For the inexperienced, the 40-year-old actress, who is UNICEF’s global goodwill ambassador, has been working with the organization for over a decade.
