It has been a year of ups and downs when it comes to movies in the cinema. However, the Southern film industry excelled and how. The blockbuster of SS Rajamouli RRR was not only seeing immense love in the country, but the affirmation of the West was definitely a sight to behold. So, when the Film Federation of India turned down? RRR for India’s official entry at the Oscars 2023, this certainly sparked a lot of discussion online, among critics, media and commerce. But according to the US distributor, the team will be running a full-fledged campaign for the action drama, calling on 10,000 Academy members to consider voting for the film in all categories.

According to a report from Variety, the multi-starrer will be submitted in several categories, including Best Picture, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Lead Actor for Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’, Original screenplay (SS Rajamouli and V. Vijayendra Prasad). Supporting actor and actress for Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt respectively; Original score by MM Keeravaani. They will also submit entries for technical categories such as cinematography, production design, film editing, costume design, makeup and hair styling, sound and visual effects.
“Over the past six months we have seen the joy that SS Rajamouli’s RRR to a global audience,” Variance Films president Dylan Marchetti told Variety. “We have seen the film gross over $140 million worldwide to become one of India’s highest-grossing films of all time and become the first film in history to trend globally on Netflix for over 14 weeks. The film filled theaters with cheering audiences months after its initial release, including Hollywood’s historic TCL Chinese IMAX Theater, where it will play this Friday to an audience that sells out in just 15 minutes from one of the country’s largest theaters. Most importantly, we’ve heard fans from all over the world tell us that they believe this is one of the best movies of the year from any country. We agree. We are proud to invite the Academy to reflect on ‘RRR’ in all categories.”
gujarati movie, Chhello show (last movie show) was selected as the official entry and the announcement was made on Tuesday. The film is directed by Pan Nalin and stars Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta in pivotal roles. The film will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021. It also won the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid International Film Festival in 2021.
RRR is a multi-star action drama starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, and is among the most acclaimed Indian films of the year. The film brings together the best performances, action, artwork and visuals with a storyline that thoroughly entertained fans in India and around the world.
