Ahead of the wider release, we have an exclusive premiere clip that previews Turner’s character, Bev. “I hope you weren’t smoking on the lawn,” Simon says as he and Carey open the door to their house. Bev stands on the other side, holding an unlit cigarette. “I didn’t smoke, I quit,” she replies. “With a cigarette in your mouth?” he asks. “It’s not lit and it’s menthol,” she replies, “this is phase two.” According to Bev, phase one switched to menthols. The official synopsis reads: “It is rare and wonderful to find your one true soul mate. Carey soon finds out that finding two of them could pose an even bigger problem. Equal to humor and heartbreak, The Swearing Jar tells two love stories at once, exploring the challenges of marriage, parenthood, loss and beyond.

“This is really a film about past and present, and how those two things are intertwined in all sorts of ways. The story comes together slowly, like puzzle pieces. With each piece we understand our characters a little more and we get a little scarred deeper into their story,” MacKay said in an interview with Women and Hollywood.

The official trailer for The cursing pot was released on September 15 and gives us a little more insight into the characters in the film, as we can see that Carey is a singer/songwriter, with her music over it. She and Simon are expecting a baby together when she meets Owen in a bookstore. He is also a singer/songwriter. “Secrets… secrets destroy a marriage,” says Bev. Cue more conflicting voiceovers from the cast and viewers can certainly expect the emotional drama to unfold.
