‘Queer as Folk’ reboot canceled on Peacock after 1 season

The “Queer as Folk” reboot won’t get a second season. The show, which debuted on Peacock in June, has been cancelled, producer Stephen Dunn announced in a statement on Instagram.

“It’s a rare gift in this time and in this country, to be able to put on a show as fearless and unapologetic as ‘Cure Us Folk.’ This experience changed our lives forever and we live in this incredible new family.” But today we got the disappointing news that we are not getting a second season. We know how much it means to the fans and when we are heartbroken we won’t get to make any more episodes, we Would like to thank everyone for watching and loving Brody, Mingus, Ruthie, Noah, Shar, Julian, Dadius. Bussey, Marvin, Judy and Brenda. We are so grateful for the opportunity to honor our community and for this We are very proud of the show. #QueerAsFamily,” Dunn said,

Along with Dunn, the show was executive produced for All3 Media International by Lee Eisenberg, Emily Brecht, Russell T. Davis, Nicola Schindler and Louise Pedersen. Brian Danley served as executive producer/director. The studio is UCP, a division of Universal Studios Group.

The Peacock series was actually the third iteration of “Cure as Folk”. The original British series ran for just 10 episodes in 1999 and 2000. Showtime produced an American adaptation that ran for 5 seasons and 83 episodes from 2000–2005.
