A second season of . has been confirmed Hell bound Is in the making. The South Korean series, which will premiere on Netflix in September 2021, tells the story of supernatural beings who emerge to spectacularly condemn humans to hell, to put it one way. The series was a hit for the streamer, but it wasn’t until Netflix’s TUDUM fan event that it was confirmed that the show has been officially renewed. The announcement came in the form of a teaser trailer for Season 2, which you can check out below.
“Brace yourself. Hell on Earth returns,” reads a description of the clip.
Based on Yeon Sang-ho’s Hell bound, is the Netflix series written by Choi Gyu-seok and directed by Yeon Sang-ho. The first season starred Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah and Yang Ik-june.
Season 1 was a huge hit for Netflix, rising quickly after its premiere in Netflix’s most-watched titles list. Viewers and critics alike were impressed with the series, as it scored a near-perfect 97% new rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Several of the show’s accolades include a win for Best Horror Series at the Golden Tomato Awards.
Hellbound’s Creator Teased Season 2
Even with a lot of viewers and strong reviews, it took a whole year for Hell bound to get the renewal at Netflix. Given the streamer’s penchant for canceling shows early, it started to look like: Hell bound maybe not ahead. But back in November last year, the show’s creator was interested in another season after praising the amazing experience he’d been working on. Hell bound for the streamer.
“I’ll say it’s true, the process of working with Netflix was very enjoyable on my part,” Yeon Sang-ho said, per Variety. “They were very much in agreement with and related to my creative vision, but they also created an environment where I didn’t have to think about anything else except to focus on my creativity in terms of distribution or when or how to release the series .”
When creating the series, he also said, “When we worked on this story, we wanted to create a world that was similar to hell, created by people who can’t stand uncertainty and we wanted to show what society would do. ” look like conflicting convictions. To do that, we needed to have multiple characters who had multiple beliefs. That’s how I came to have some lead actors.”
