MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“Concerning the Ferris Bueller project, we are so excited about that project that we are producing. We have a great writer, Bill Posley, he’s been working on Cobra Kai with us, who we love and he has a great take on it. It’s exciting to dive into John Hughes’ universe, but see a side of that world we haven’t seen with these characters, Sam and Victor, who were the servants in the original Ferris Bueller movie. The three of us love secondary characters in general and love to see what’s going on in their worlds, so that’s going to be a fun one when we get to it.”

As excited as they are to work on the film, there are still some other projects that should be prioritized. That includes working out their plans for a sixth season of Cobra Kai as well as their upcoming action comedy series erased, a Netflix Original that follows an elite squad of special forces foiling a deadly threat to Las Vegas. Only when these goals are achieved do they move on Sam and Victor’s day off.

“But that won’t affect anything” Cobra Kai moving forward. It’s really about working on erasedget through our production there and then chart the path for more Cobra Kai.”

Written and directed by the late John Hughes, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was released in 1986. The comedy follows Matthew Broderick as the titular teenager who decides to take a day out of school, along with two friends for some fun in Chicago. A big hit at the box office that is highly regarded as one of the greatest comedies of the 80s, the film also featured Mia Sara, Alan Ruck, Jennifer Grey, Charlie Sheen, Ben Stein and Louie Anderson.

Despite the film’s success, there would never be an official sequel. There was an adaptation of the TV series that was tried on NBC in 1990 starring Charlie Schlatter and Jennifer Aniston, but it didn’t last long for the world as it was canceled after 13 episodes. It may not be possible to recreate the magic of Ferris Bueller’s day off, so maybe the Cobra Kai team is on to something by instead focusing on completely different characters taking their own day off, which just happens to fall on the same day as that original movie.

Sam and Victor’s day off does not have a premiere date at this time.
