Archana Puran Singh feels deprived and cheated as an actor; wants to ask for work like Neena Gupta

From Comedy Circus to The Kapil Sharma Show, Archana Puran Singh has long been associated with comedy shows and movies. Her uncontrollable laugh often leaves everyone in cracks and her comedic roles are also appreciated. However, Archana feels bereft and cheated as an actor after being stereotyped in comedy. She longs to play serious roles and wants to start asking for work like veteran actress Neena Gupta.

Speaking of her comedic image, Archana told The Indian Express, “That chhaap (image) is so solid. Also, a lot of people feel like what to offer me after Ms. Briganza. It’s been almost 25 years since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released. And the character still follows me. People also think that I am only suitable for comedy. As an actor I feel deprived, cheated and I have continued to long for good roles.”

Archana said that when one becomes stereotypical in a certain genre, it is the death of an actor. She recalled how on social media Neena Gupta asked the producers and filmmakers to offer her some work and said she might have to go down the same path to satisfy the actor in her.

She added that she wants to play meaningful roles and she is eager to perform. She said people have only seen one aspect of her acting, but she said she can cry and also make people cry with her performance. She manifested that one day there will come a time when she will explore this particular side of her.

Earlier, Archana had said that she feels blessed with her dream journey on The Kapil Sharma Show and no other TV shows can replace it. She had said she was up for a comedy show or movie anytime while talking about judging India’s laughing champion.
