“It’s kind of a family drama dilemma, intertwined with the enormous drama and dilemma of our prison system in America, and how the world is divided into gangs,” Wiest noted.

Since the first broadcast in November 2021, Mayor of Kingstown has been renewed for a second season, but first, Paramount will release season one on Blu-ray and DVD on September 27, 2022, including over two hours of special features listed below:

Dianne Wiest and Jeremy Renner as Mayor of Kingstown

“I think Miriam, I think her husband’s death several years ago… I think she’s given up on her family, and maybe she’s given up everything except trying to reach the prisoners by teaching history and philosophy,” commented Whoops. character. She continued, “She’s trying to tell them, ‘Don’t just be here in a depression, you can really wake up part of your mind. You can really do something.’ But I think as a mother she has given up on the family She is just too furious with the losses she has suffered and has gone down a bad path, taking her anger out on Jeremy… I think rather than feel anything, she “Prefer to fight. Not unlike a mobster.”

Although Wiest’s character matches her anger with Renner’s, she noted that it is a pleasure to work with him behind the scenes. This is certainly believable, especially considering Renner is an award-winning actor who has been nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor for The hurt locker in 2010, as well as Best Supporting Actor for The city in 2011.

‘It’s just heaven,’ said Wiest, ‘I enjoy working with him. I’m always so happy when I have a scene with him because he’s the kind of actor who is incapable of telling a lie in his acting. He is incapable of it. What you see is what is true, and there are no frills about it… I really love him.”

Created by Hugh Dillon and Taylor Sheridan

In addition to starring in Mayor of KingstownDillon is also the creator of the series alongside Taylor Sheridan, who is known for several other hits such as Yellowstone, 1883, Hell or high waterand more.

“A lot of it is really a story of his life,” Wiest noted, referring to how Dillon grew up in a small town called Kingston in Ontario, Canada. “Not that he’s ever been a prisoner, but that he’s lived in Kingston, a real prison town in Canada where we filmed season one. So, Hugh and Taylor, I think they’re really good friends, but they got together with writing and storytelling and came up with this.’

As for what she hopes will distract viewers from watching the series, Wiest said she wants audiences to “help change the American prison system.” Help change it. You can. We have the largest, largest, largest prison system in the world. Much bigger than Russia, much bigger than China. Any problem, such as immigration, poverty or race, we solve by throwing people in jail.”
