Wakanda Forever Star Confirms Namor’s Mutant Origins As New Image Arrives

Tenoch Huerta plays iconic Marvel anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which makes the character appear on a big screen for the first time. Marvel has changed the origin of the Namor comic book from the ruler of Atlantis to that of a fictional underwater Maya civilization. However, one important feature of Namor has been preserved.

Namor is often regarded as Marvel Comics’ first mutant, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also retains that function. Tenoch Huerta recently confirmed the same in an interview with Empire Magazine. You can also check out a brand new image from the movie that gives Namor the best look yet.

Tenoch Huerta also offered more story details and explained Namor’s intentions behind the attack on Wakanda.

“You can take Atlantis out of Greek myth, or you can adapt to a real culture,” Huerta says of Black Panther Wakanda Forever’s changes in the origin of Namor from the ruler of Atlantis to the ruler of Talocan, inspired by a real Aztec kingdom. As for Namor’s evil intentions, which are often just extreme ways to protect his people, Huerta says that T’Challa’s decision to share the truth about Wakanda with the world drives him to invade the kingdom. “That decision puts Talocan at risk. And Talocan must take action to protect itself.”

T’Challa agreed to share Wakanda’s rich cultural and technological advancements with the world by the end of this year Black Panther. But it’s possible that unintended secrets also came to light, such as the existence of an ancient kingdom of underwater inhabitants, which likely threatens the kingdom of Namor.

But it’s just speculation and frankly, that’s all we can do now if the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever cast and crew seem to protect the larger plot of the film as if someone is holding a gun to their head. The official trailer barely had a glimpse of the titular superhero.

It sure is frustrating, but not that anyone is complaining. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever currently follows the biggest movie of the year. The one thing that is certain is that the film will honor Chadwick Boseman’s legacy as he delves deeper into the world of Wakanda.

Marvel is in the process of introducing the X-Men

Mrs. Marvel’s incredible finale left fans screaming with excitement at the shocking revelation that Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) carried the mutant X gene. Mrs. Marvel will appear next in Nia DaCosta’s the miracles, rumored to be debuting the X-Men.

It’s possible we’ll see the iconic team even sooner, like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania will launch phase five of the MCU next year and explore the multiverse. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which concludes Phase Four, is also reported with Doctor Doom, the nemesis of the Fantastic Four. But even if it isn’t, Wakanda forever is definitely another epic entry in the MCU, either way.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters worldwide on November 11, 2022.

The official summary for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is reading:

Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the aftermath of The Death of King T’Challa.
