Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black on hiatus after head injury

Oscar-winning “Milk” screenwriter Dustin Lance Black revealed on Monday that he suffered a “serious head injury” nearly a month ago and that doctors had ordered him to take a break from work to help him recover.

in one Instagram postBlack wrote, “So I disappeared for a while … A month ago I had a serious head injury that put me out of commission. Showing little improvement, my doctors allowed me to recover. Ordered to shut his mind in hope. It’s been a challenging, frightening time for a creative type who relies on what’s in his skull to work with, care for, and love. And now I I understand the road back will be long.”

She said that her “sweet, over-the-top husband,” Olympic gold medalist Tom Daly, took her to the Greek Islands “to shut me down.”

Along with photos of the two relaxing by the beach, Black wrote, “I can already feel this journey is a step in the right direction, and I finally feel safe to share a little bit again. Thank you all for your love and patience. More to come. Promise.”

He did not say how he got the head injury.

“Mama’s Boy,” a documentary based on Black’s 2019 memoir about growing up with a conservative, Mormon mother, premieres October 18 on HBO. Laurent Bouzero directs and produces LD Entertainment, Ambien Television and Playtone in association with Nedland Media. ,
