John Oliver is pretty sure he knows what happens to people after they die. Or, at least, he’s got an idea of what happened to Queen Elizabeth II. On Sunday’s episode of “Last Week Tonight,” the HBO host implied that the late monarch didn’t end up in the same place as Princess Diana.
After a couple of weeks of hiatus, Oliver is back this week and definitely got some headlines to capture. Among them is President Joe Biden’s declaration that the COVID-19 pandemic is “over,” something Oliver was appalled – and greatly annoyed – by.
“You can’t just declare something and make it a reality,” joked Oliver. “If I declare that the queen is alive, it is not true.”
From there, the “Last Week Tonight” host took a moment to take a dig at the Queen, hinting at where she might end up. “We all know she’s seeing Diana now,” Oliver joked.
However, the host came under other headlines, including Ron DeSantis shipping refugees from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard—an idea, Oliver said, that DeSantis actually met with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.
Oliver also mocked DeSantis for using the image of a fake Massachusetts state flag on brochures that were given to migrants upon their arrival.
“You’d think Ron DeSantis would have caught that error, given that he spent three years at Harvard Law School, correct me if I’m wrong, f-ing in Massachusetts!” Oliver said.
