Werewolf by Night Producer Reveals Disney+ Special’s Ties to the MCU

While all Marvel Cinematic Universe projects come together at some point, Werewolf by NIght seems more on the cusp of starting something new.

There are a lot of expectations for any MCU TV show to have a connection to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems that Werewolf at night will draw on the existing MCU canon, but fans may not expect too many direct links to other Marvel projects for now. Like Moon Knight for the, Werewolf at night takes a step into the dark side of Marvel Comics, and this time they don’t mess around with a full tribute to classic 1940s horror movies, which will once again improve and expand the MCU. Marvel Studios producer Brian Gay explained that Screen frenzy:

“So for this it’s a special presentation, which is a bit of a new format for us, right? It should be a short film, it should actually give you – I call it an appetizer – a taste of another story or a different part of the universe. So for this you know better than anyone, the MCU, we have aliens, we have superheroes, we have other dimensions, we have all kinds of things. The idea of this special is that, “If you look in that corner, it’s kind of shady and dark down there, and what happens when you peek behind that,” and you start to see that there’s a world of monsters underneath everything of this. That was the idea that we wanted to set up this concept that, “Hey, everything you thought you knew, there was even a layer that you had no idea about.” So we want to introduce Jack, and Elsa and all these other characters as part of a world that just makes the MCU feel bigger.”

Werewolf by Night has been called the best Disney+ Marvel show ever

Werewolf at nightInitial reviews were overwhelmingly positive about the new and exciting direction of the MCU’s first true horror series. Even Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness brought a dark thread to Marvel’s movies, and Moon Knight has also delved deeper into the more violent avenues of Marvel’s comics, Werewolf at night is the first to really venture into the monster movie territory. In another interview, Gay explained that Marvel’s long hidden history of monsters will come to light in the special presentation. He said:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“I think one of the cool things about the special is that it just peels off the corners of monsters in the MCU, right? So there’s not just the monsters that are part of Werewolf by Night, but the ones that hung on the wall, there’s also some of that artwork, and what all this leads to is the idea that there have been monsters in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for centuries, and that they’re being tracked or hunted or kept at bay by these fighters.”

Werewolf at night will premiere on Disney+ on October 7, with a reported runtime of approximately 53 minutes.
