Ana De Armas Says She Didn’t Feel Exploited While Filming Blonde

Ana de Armas was totally absorbed in her role of Marilyn Monroe in Blonde, and that meant filming some spicy scenes.

While it could have been easy for Ana de Armas to feel exploited by the more racist scenes she had to film for Netflix’s Marilyn Monroe biopic blond, the actress recently explained that this was definitely not the case. When it came to filming some scenes that might be difficult to watch, the young actress of the moment said she was in control of what she did and didn’t do in front of the camera, although some viewers may find it uncomfortable to watch. she felt she was always in a safe environment and didn’t feel uncomfortable filming them at all.

blond is a fictionalized look at Marilyn Monroe’s life, especially during her rise in the 1950s and until her death in 1962. While the film itself has received mixed reviews, and some criticism from certain groups of people online for its choice of casting, there’s unanimous praise for the Armas’s performance as the troubled Hollywood icon. The actress has already commented on the surprising NC-17 rating applied to the film for its sexual content, but she has also made it clear that there is nothing in the film that she did not find unhappy about doing, and the filming of the scenes felt completely safe and there was a lot of discussion before shooting. The Armas told EW:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“It’s harder for people to look at [those scenes] than for me to make them because I understood what I was doing and I felt very protected and safe. I didn’t feel exploited because I was in control. I made that decision. I knew what kind of movie I was doing. I trusted my director. I felt like I was in a safe environment. We had hundreds of conversations about these scenes. Everyone felt a deep respect for the film we were making. And in that sense I was not afraid. I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, even though they were really hard scenes.”

Critics Have Said Blonde Hair Deserves NC-17 Rating

Although star de Armas may not understand why blond has earned the same rating as films that she believes have much more explicit sexual content, many early viewers seem to agree with the rating board on the strictest rating given to the film. However, the nudity in the film is something that De Armas is very well aware of will be compiled online, outside the context of the film, but she knows she can’t do anything to stop that. She previously said:

“It’s disturbing just thinking about it. I can’t control it; you can’t really control what they do and how they take things out of context. I don’t think it made me think twice; it just gave me bad taste thinking about the future of those clips i did things in this movie that i would never have done for anyone else, ever i did it for her, and i did it for [Blonde director Andrew Dominik].”

blond will be released on Netflix on September 28, and after much press coverage, it will undoubtedly reach the top of the streamer chart soon.
