‘The View’ Host Slams ‘Agist’ Backlash to Biden Gaffe Over Dead Congresswoman (VIDEO)

The host of “The View” is showing President Biden’s grace this week when he accidentally called a dead congressman into a room full of people. In fact, the women argued on Thursday that the response at this time was nothing but age-old.

Speaking on hunger, nutrition and health at a White House conference on Wednesday, Biden called for Representative Jackie Walorsky, “Jackie, are you here? Where’s Jackie? I guess she wasn’t going to be here — to make it a reality.” To help in.” Naturally, the moment fizzled out as Walorsky died in a car accident in early August.

At a press conference later, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to explain the moment by telling reporters that Walorsky was “top of the president’s mind,” and he simply misquoted. And for their part, the hosts of “The View” largely understood.

“You know, my God, come on,” said Whoopi Goldberg. “You can’t go after him, you know, not give aid to Florida or deal with infrastructure. And he’s giving aid to Ukraine. So you can’t go after him for that. But you can go after him. Because it’s forgotten that someone passed away. I mean, and she passed away last month, not like 100 years ago, right? Because we also dealt with that, where people said, you know, ‘That person The one who died 100 years ago did a great job.'”

Whoopi was certainly referring to 2017, when Donald Trump said, “Frederick Douglass is an example of someone who has done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I saw.”

But for Sunny Hostin, the backlash Biden faced was rooted more in ageism than anything else.

“You know, I think what it really shows is that this country is so aging,” she said. “This country has a problem of age. You know, you go to other countries and our elders are revered. He is revered because of the knowledge he has acquired. And this is a man who has worked in the government all his life. This is a man who probably had an affair with this woman. And yes, she was probably top of mind!”

Hostin said she had recently been thinking of her grandmother, who passed away five years ago, and yet he almost tried to call her on the phone. Meanwhile, Joy Behar has largely criticized the Republican Party for being too eager to stave off any foul play by the president.

“I mean, they’ve weaponized the gaffes, they said he’s old,” she said. “You know, I found a Gallup poll from 1980 that showed Americans’ biggest concern about Ronald Reagan was, ‘He puts his foot in his mouth without thinking or considering the consequences’ .’ And he is the patron saint of the Republican Party!”

That said, hosts Sarah Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin said that fault handling, especially with the press, could have been executed better.
