Walker: Independence teaser reveals murder-mystery

Abigail Walker (Katherine McNamara) is a woman on a mission to seek vengeance against the man who murdered her husband in the new teaser for The CW’s “Walker: Independence,” which you shared exclusively with TheWrap You can watch the clip above.

The prequel to “Walker” (which stars Jared Padalecki in a reimagining of the classic “Walker, Texas Ranger”) takes audiences a few hundred years back to the end of the 19th century, in a Texas town on the borders of the Wild West. After the brutal murder of her husband, the determined Abigail, the future Sheriff of Freedom, must band together with an eclectic group of residents—such as charming criminal Hoyt Rollins (Matt Barr) and trusted Apache adviser Callian (Justin Johnson Cortez)— And find out who she can count on to bring justice against Sheriff Tom Davidson (Greg Hovnesian), a hypocritical lawmaker who indulges in shady business dealings.

The series also stars Lawrence Kao, Katie Findlay and Philemon Chambers. Seamus Fahey is the executive producer, and he wrote the teleplay and co-wrote the story on which the show is based. Current “Walker” EP and showrunner Anna Frick is also an EP and story co-writer. Padalecki also executive produced the CBS Studios show along with Dan Lin, Lindsay Liberatore (Rideback) and Laura Terry (Followed by a Bear). Larry Teng is an EP and directs the pilot.

“Walker: Independence” debuts October 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, right after the third season premiere of “Walker.”
