Hrithik Roshan fans have been waiting for Vikram Vedha for a long time. The film is the remake of the 2017 Tamil blockbuster movie starring Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan. In the Hindi version, Hrithik Roshan steps into the shoes of Vijay Sethupathi while Saif Ali Khan is the agent. Vikram Vedha has seen one of the best advance bookings of 2022 so far. What is it about…
Saif Ali Khan is Inspector Vikram is part of an elite police task force to arrest the notorious mobster Vedha. He runs his operations out of Lucknow and is known for his daylight kills. On the day when the police are planning a secret and elaborate mission to capture Vedha, he walks into the police station to surrender. After that, the series of stories begins that changes Inspector Vikram’s concept of morality and how ambiguous it can be. The inspiration is the fable of King Vikram and Pay that every child should read once in his or her life.

What’s hot…
The performances by Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan are top notch. Both get the same number of scenes and bring out the best in each other. We’ve rarely seen Hrithik Roshan play small town characters except for Super 30, but this one does justice to his superstar status. His eyes do all the talking, and the swag quotient is high and how. Saif Ali Khan shows off his toned body in tight polo shirts, and his performance is impeccable too. The supporting cast stars Rohit Saraf and Sharib Hashmi. In fact, Babloo’s character is very intriguing. The setting is Lucknow and few films have captured the city so beautifully. PS Vinod deserves a special mention for some innovatively shot scenes, which improve the viewing experience many times over. Sam CS has provided the great background music that does justice to the suspense, intrigue and theme of the film.
What not
Those who have seen the Tamil movie can make constant comparisons, which is inevitable. The love story of Yogita Bihani (Chanda) and Rohit Saraf (Shatak) does not strike a chord. The makers have shown Hrithik Roshan a bit of fan service which makes the film a tad longer and not serve much more. Radhika Apte’s role isn’t much to write home about.
BL verdict
Vikram Vedha is the perfect massive masala action entertainer with its tight screenplay, good dialogues and solid performances. There is a little bit of every element. It reaffirms that Hrithik Roshan is one of the best actors among superstars and can deliver almost any character! The climax is stunning and one of the best ever in recent memory.
