Bill Maher suggests Joe Biden kick Kamala Harris off 2024 Democratic ticket

“Real Time” host Bill Maher has no complaints about President Joe Biden when it comes to getting things done. However, he worries that Vice President Kamala Harris could prove to be a turning point in 2024 re-election, as far as replacing her on the Democratic ticket is suggested.

In Friday night’s “Real Time,” Maher and her panel — The Atlantic writer Caitlin Flanagan and CNN commentator Van Jones — discussed Biden’s successful track record so far in the presidency. Maher has argued against some Democrats, saying that Biden’s age comes 2024, leaving him in a vulnerable spot for re-election.

“It’s very difficult to get a nomination from the president,” Maher said. “I what could See is taking the place of Vice President because he is not very popular anywhere. And it didn’t seem to work. And I don’t know. This has been done in a ticket before. ,

Flanagan agreed, saying of Harris, “For some reason, in addition to being an off-putting person, he also has, I think, a lot of stuff that probably won’t do well under a lot of scrutiny.”

“I think he’s a bad politician. And I don’t…I mean…I don’t think…I think he’s a very bright person,” Maher grumbled. “But I can see them doing it because there’s a lot of problem with Biden getting older, ‘Oh, if he dies you know you’re going to get this person. Okay, so here’s the problem with the Democratic Party. They are so ingrained in identity politics that you can’t imagine a Democratic ticket that doesn’t have any women and people of color on it. And pretty soon you’re gonna line up behind that gay Latino and, you know, must be a deaf Eskimo…”

Jones pointed out that both sides play a game of “identity politics”.

“You talk about identity politics. Joe Biden is an example of identity politics. Joe Biden is an example of black voters saying, ‘We think we need to include a white man here. .’ And nobody says that he is an identity politics man. [Former Vice President Mike] pence, how do you get pence? near you [Donald] Trump, who is not the most saintly man in the world, needs someone who identifies as an Orthodox Christian. He goes and gets the pence. So politics is about identity. it’s him. But whenever there’s a person or woman of color, we say, ‘Okay, that’s identity politics.’ it is All Identity politics. ,

Maher, of course, threw in some humor on the serious topic — as he usually does — hitting back at those who come down on Biden because of his age.

“Do I want to put great wisdom in the body of a 20-year-old? Yes,” he said, that Everyone Would like “I agree, he’s going to have trouble debating. Arguments are going to look bad. Prepare for it now. There’s going to be some senior moments. Well, he could have come without pants. It’s true. “

But, Maher continued, “It doesn’t matter. It has nothing to do with running the country.”
