Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan returned to theaters after the pandemic with Jugjugg Jeeyo which was released in June 2022. It did decent checkouts. Now, with the release of a new Dharma Productions movie Brahmastra, the Alia Bhatt – Ranbir Kapoor fantasy mythology entertainer has made great collections at the box office. But that aside, there’s been tremendous industry support for a film that took seven years to make. Varun Dhawan says he went to the theaters to watch the film.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Varun Dhawan admitted it’s a great time to be back in the cinemas. He said “I saw” Brahmastra when it is released on the first day. I think it’s a big screen watch. I thought it was a great time watching it – alone with the audience and the energy you feel is amazing. It was good to just do that.”
He further added: “I have actually seen Laal Singh Chaddha in theatres. I’ve seen a few movies like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Sooryavanshi.”
When asked if he wears masks to quietly enjoy the movie experience, he said, “I wear a mask and go because I want to see the movie. I want to enjoy it.”
Interestingly, while it was Ranbir Kapoor’s first time working with Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Alia debuted in the film industry with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. They have worked in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badri Ki Dulhania and Kalank.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan will be the next star in the monster comedy Bhediya with Kriti Sanon. The trailer will be released on October 19, 2022. Directed by Amar Kaushik and starring Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal and Abhishek Banerjee, the film will be produced by Dinesh Vijan and will hit theaters on November 25, 2022.
Varun Dhawan is also doing the Prime Video series, the Hindi adaptation of the Russo Brothers’ upcoming production Citadel. While the original stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead roles, the Hindi version will see Varun with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. It will be directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
