A court in Bihar had reportedly issued arrest warrants quite recently against film and TV producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor. This was on charges of insulting soldiers and hurting the feelings of their relatives in her ALT Balaji web series XXX Season 2. A complaint has been lodged by a resident and ex-servicemen of Begusarai, Shambhu Kumar. Judge Vikas Kumar’s court issued the arrest warrants. Now her lawyer has refuted the reports, claiming that no arrest warrant has been issued against the mother-daughter duo.
Ekta Kapoor’s lawyer refutes reports of arrest warrants against producer, mother Shobha Kapoor in connection with XXX series
Reportedly, the lawyer representing Ekta said in a statement on Sunday, Oct. 2: “In the recent past, there have been news articles alleging that arrest warrants have been issued by a Magistrate Court in Begusarai, Bihar against Ms Ekta Kapoor and Ms Shobha. Kapoor These news articles that appear to have been made on the basis of alleged statements by the attorney for the person who filed the complaint are false and inaccurate as Ms Ekta Kapoor or Ms Shobha Kapoor have not received any arrest warrants.”
In the 2020 indictment, Shambhu Kumar claimed that the XXX Season 2 web series had several offensive scenes related to the soldier’s wife. “The series aired on ALTBalaji, an OTT platform owned by Balaji Telefilms Ltd of Ekta Kapoor. Shobha Kapoor is also associated with Balaji Telefilms,” said Hrishikesh Pathak, the advocate of Shambhu Kumar, as reported by NDTV. He added: “The court had subpoenaed them (Kapoors) and requested to appear in court in connection with the case. However, they (Kapoors) informed the court that certain scenes in the series had been removed after the appeal. But they did not appear in court and the injunction was issued against them.”
XXX is a web series directed by Ken Ghosh (season 1) for Ekta Kapoor’s ALT Balaji platform. The series stars Kyra Dutt, Aparnaa Bajpai, Rithvik Dhanjani, Shantanu Maheshwari, Ankit Gera, Pryanca Talukdar and Aparna Sharma. Season 2 was directed by Akshay Choubey of Bekaboo.
