Other Marvel Comics Characters Deserving a Halloween Special

The Marvel Cinematic Universe gets into the Halloween spirit with the Werewolf at night (2022) Halloween special. With monstrous characters like this, it’s only fitting that Jack Russell be introduced to the world of the MCU in such a way. But that begs the question, what other characters in MCU history could lead their own Halloween Special?

Here we’ll look at several characters from Marvel Comics history and explain why we believe they’re worthy of running their own horror show. We’ll take a quick look at what the characters bring to the table and what a show around them would be like.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

6/6 men thing

DC have already brought their embodiment of nature’s wrath to the little one screen with Swamp thing, but Marvel can show off one of their most unique heroes in Man-Thing. After attempting to escape terrorist forces, scientist Dr. Ted Sallis to flee, but crashed into a swamp that would turn out to be the Nexus of Realties. The mystical properties of the Nexus and the experimental serum in his body made Dr. Sallis the creature known as Man-Thing.

With little to no memory of his past life, Man-Thing would swear to protect the Nexus from any threat. While the terrorist group AIM would make many attempts, Man-Thing would also face supernatural threats such as demons and ghosts. A special could focus on Man-Thing’s tragic origin story and the revenge he sought on those who caused his transformation. And anyone who’s seen Marvel’s forgotten movie men thing (2005) knows that there are plenty of brutal possibilities for Man-Thing’s revenge.

5/6 Sheet

With the daywalker already set to make his MCU debut with his own feature film, you can look forward to the possibility of this vampire hunter getting his own Halloween special in the near future. With Mahershala Ali taking on the role synonymous with Wesley Snipes, Marvel would be wise to take every opportunity to endear the fresh face to the nostalgic fans.

With the Guardians of the Galaxy setting a precedent that prominent characters in the film can still get a holiday special, all you have to do is wonder what the story would be for Blade. Assuming the film covered Blade’s original story, this special could be an action-packed story in which Blade attacks a vampire compound and single-handedly wipes them all out. Very similar to scenes that appear in the Wesley Snipes trilogy.

4/6 Ghost Rider

The story of Ghost Rider is about a tragic deal a desperate man made with Mephisto. With Robbie Reyes already getting to know the MCU with his heart-pounding 1969 Dodge Charger Season 4 of Agents of SHIELD, we should turn to another spirit of vengeance. Maybe we can turn to fan-favorite Johnny Blaze, the demonic biker.

With his penitent gaze, Johnny terrorized street-level thugs, forcing them to endure the pain they inflicted on others. If Marvel would like to follow Prey‘s (2022) and creating a historical piece, we could see the story of the original Ghost Rider, a young boy who sought revenge on a Wendigo who slaughtered his tribe. With its hellfire mountain like a woolly mammoth, there would indeed be a spectacular sight if Marvel were to travel this route.

3/6 Brother Voodoo

As Doctor Strange descends the rabbit hole that is the multiverse with his newfound love interest, Clea, Earth can use a new wizard to help Wong fight the dark forces. A Halloween special would be a spectacular way to introduce a new protégé of the mystical arts, and there’s just the man for that.

Jericho Drumm is a voodoo practitioner who became a houngan after studying with Papa Jambo in his home country of Haiti. Jericho would take on cultists and evil priests during his early days before coming to America and meeting the Sorcerer Supreme. While this was Doctor Strange in the comics, it would still be interesting to see how Wong interacts with a new student. Perhaps America Chavez can make a cameo in this special to help with monsters born from other realms.

2/6 arcade

Disney may not go to the level of gore set by the Saw franchise, but with rumors that they might be rating future MCU projects R, Arcade would be a classic villain to bring out. Traditionally an X-Men villain, Arcade is known for creating deadly traps and challenging humans to escape, with most civilians dying as a result of his machinations.

A Halloween special could focus on the youth of the MCU who are trapped and must find their own way to escape. Seeing MJ and Ned return without Spider-Man at the ready to rescue them could be an excellent way to show how capable the two are without their web-headed friend. Or maybe Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova are trapped without their weapons and equipment and must solve certain life-threatening puzzles to get their equipment back.

1/6 Elsa Bloodstone

Elsa may already be ready for her MCU debut, but the monster hunter still has her own story to tell. Elsa was often considered a supporting character, but she has also proven to be one of the strongest warriors to ever grace the pages of Marvel Comics. Because her family has a history of monster-hunting, a Halloween special could provide a glimpse into what life was like during Elsa’s childhood.

After a brief look into the past, we can also see what may have been Elsa’s first adventure. Perhaps she sought out one of the many beasts that had escaped Asgard during the events of Thor: The Dark World (2013), or perhaps she defeated one of the many alien threats that landed on Earth during the multiple invasions featured in the Infinity Saga. Either way, Elsa could provide a lot of action and fear for a Marvel Halloween Special.
