Rebecca Wisocki on Hetty’s Mission to Let Lose

Hetty is learning to let loose on Season 2 of ‘Ghosts’. During Thursday’s episode, Rebecca Wisocki’s character is introduced to the joys of sexual exploration when Flower (Sheila Carrasco) teaches her that she can find pleasure in a broken dryer at Woodstone Mansion.

The story is another hilarious example of Hetty’s hidden desire to free herself from the obstacles that come with being the wife of a robber merchant in the late 1800s.

“I love doing physical comedy, and I love all manner of Hetty,” Visocki told TheWrap about her character on the CBS sitcom. “He sometimes means good, and sometimes he doesn’t mean good. He’s a mess of contradictions.”

While she might not be around people alive this season, Visocki teases that there’s definitely something else in store for Hetty and her secret mission to tame her hair. Read below for more.

What was your reaction when you read the script for this episode?

Oh my jaw dropped. I was so excited. I mean, I love doing physical comedy, and I love Hetty’s funny ways. Sometimes he means good, and sometimes he doesn’t mean good. It is a mess of contradictions. It’s a lot of fun to play as an actor, and especially fun because we have so many great matchups of unlikely friendships in our house. The matchup between Flower and Hetty was so delicious—consulting with arguably the most liberated woman you can imagine, Flower, stick in the mud Hetty.

I found it really amusing that, even after learning that she didn’t need a man for her pleasure, Hetty still assumed she needed a man to make her a washing machine.

Hetty is so clever, and yet so often misses the obvious.

Can you tease what else could be in store for Season 2?

The writers are doing a beautiful job revealing things in surprising ways and still holding back some big, juicy secrets. They’re big group scenes, which are a lot of fun to play with. But we also break into smaller ghost groups and less unlikely matches and friendships. I think the audience enjoys whatever comes.

Last season we saw Hetty and Sam start working on their relationship a bit. Is there more this season?

You will definitely see more of that. As we learned, Samantha has had a very difficult and somewhat unresolved relationship with her mother. I think we can just assume that Hetty probably had a pretty flimsy relationship with her kids, and I think there’s a sort of surrogacy mother-daughter relationship emerging out there.

'Ghost' bosses tease new spirits and more chaos in season 2

No more Hetty assets this season?

No more captures for Hetty, but that doesn’t mean Ghosts won’t be trying to capture some sort of thing this year.

Can you explain in detail?

You’ll see later in the season that Hetty is accidentally trying. He hovers over Jai whenever he is setting the lamp. She’s not sure how it works, but would definitely love to eat more Cheetos. It was pleasant to see an actor as talented as Utkarsh to channel this lady from the Gilded Age. One thing about it that’s so exciting is that you got to see my character’s inner, deepest desires. Now that she has a body and can interact with things and places intellectually, you see how voracious she is. She wants to eat all the Cheetos and drink all the wine and go to Paris. That hunger is something she has, and she will find a way to satisfy it in different ways this season.

So, she wants to leave.

He has a completely suppressed confused energy, that’s what I would say. So this season she explores how to handle it.

“Ghost” airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30 on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
