Inside Amy Schumer returns this month for a fifth season after a six-year hiatus. This time, the sketch comedy series moves to a new home and airs on Paramount+. A newly released trailer gives viewers a glimpse of some of the big names joining Amy Schumer on screen. Guest stars include Ellie Kemper, Olivia Munn, Cazzie David, Bridget Everett, Michael Ian Black, Tim Meadows, Amber Tamblyn, Chris Parnell, Jesse Williams and Laura Benanti.
The trailer also offers a sneak peek at some of the characters Schumer will portray throughout the show’s five episodes, including an astronaut, a mock Bachelorette contestant, a patriot, a mother, and a detective. In a statement to PeopleSchumer shared her excitement for the upcoming season of the series:
“It was really so much fun bringing this show back. I just want to make people laugh and I’m proud of this new season. Episodes we made almost 10 years ago still ring through today, which is wild, But it made me realize we could do it again.”
The Emmy Award-winning series was created, co-produced and co-written by Schumer and originally aired on Comedy Central for four seasons beginning in 2013. During its first run, Inside Amy Schumer was nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards and won the 2015 Outstanding Variety Sketch Series award.
Season five will feature five episodes, two of which will be available to stream on Paramount+ October 20. The other episodes follow weekly. Season five of Inside Amy Schumer is produced by Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment Studios.
Schumer’s success on and off the screen
In 2015, Schumer made her feature film debut in Train wreck, a romantic comedy directed by Judd Apatow and written by Schumer. Schumer received recognition for her work on the film, both on and off the camera, earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical and a Writers Guild Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. In 2016 she published The girl with the lower back tattooa memoir that was at the top The New York Times Bestseller list shortly after release. In 2018, she earned a Tony Award nomination for the Broadway production of Meteor Shower.
Schumer continued to play in Grabbed, I feel beautiful, the people and Hulu’s comedy-drama series Life & Bethwhere she also served as a writer, director and executive producer. Life & Beth was positively received by critics and audiences and in April it was renewed for a second season. Schumer most recently appeared in brothers and Only murders in the building.
