She-Hulk’s introduction to Daredevil was never going to get serious

Those expecting to see the exact same dark Daredevil that Netflix initially provided will have to wait a little longer to see if that happens to the MCU, as its She-Hulk’s appearance was never meant to be. From the moment it was announced that Charlie Cox would appear on the show, She-Hulk lead writer Jessica Gao has laid out exactly what to expect from Daredevil in the series. She said:

“Charlie is so wonderful. He’s so wild to do anything, and he’s such a great actor and a great human being. What was so nice about bringing him and Daredevil into our world is that people have already seen a Daredevil that is very dramatic, a little on the heavy side, very dark, pensive. It was so much fun to be able to do – and we do this with every character cameo from the MCU – we take them from the environment you know them from, which is a much more dramatic and action-oriented role, much more on the serious side, and we bring them into our world, and they play in the tone of She-Hulk. And they had to explore, and we get to see a lighter side of that character.

Of course, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock became known for delivering a good joke during his past outings, and his character development in the Netflix series probably wasn’t ignored. Although Cox said so Daredevil: Born Again is “a season one and not season 4”, it wouldn’t work to bring Murdock back to the beginning of its journey as it would just walk the same path as the previous series. The real start of Matt Murdock’s MCU journey begins in 2024 when he’s back in Hell’s Kitchen on his own show and not tagging on anyone else’s vehicle.
