Prime Video recently announced the worldwide premiere of its first Telugu Original Movie, ammuwhich will be released on October 19. Starring filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj as Creative Producer, produced by Kalyan Subramanian and Kaarthekeyen Santhanam of Stone Bench Films, and written and directed by Charukesh Sekar, the film is a drama thriller that is a powerful story of a woman who rises like a phoenix in the face of adversity.
Karthik Subbaraj’s Ammu is Prime Video’s first original Telugu movie; the movie comes out on October 19th
ammu follows a woman’s exciting transformation from a victim of domestic violence to overcoming her internal conflicts, discovering her inner strength and giving a great reward to her abusive husband. Aishwarya Lekshmi plays the title role in the film alongside Naveen Chandra and Simha in the lead role. Prime members in India and over 240 countries and territories can stream ammu in Telugu along with Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi language dubs on the service.
The first look was revealed by directors such as Karthik Subbaraj, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Kiranraj and Tharun Bhascker and Samyuktha Hegde, who stood up for Ammu’s message from empowerment actors Sai Pallavi, Manju Warrier revealed the launch date. “Ammu is special to us for several reasons. Not only is it our first original Telugu film, a milestone that we are very happy about; but it’s also an important and relevant story that focuses on women’s strength and resilience,” said Aparna Purohit, head of India Originals, Prime Video.
“It also confirms our next collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj, na Putham Pudhu Kaalai and Mahaan. ammu with great performances from our main cast, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Naveen Chandra and Simha. We, at Prime Video, are excited and proud to bring this story to our audience, not just India, but around the world,” she added.
Kartik Subbaraj shared, “ammuAs a film, it is more than just a revenge thriller. The film is rooted in drama, laced with the unpredictability of life that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. ammu is part of Prime Video’s celebratory lineup for the Great Indian Festival 2022, which kicks off on September 23. The lineup also includes several other original series and movies in multiple languages.
