What else is in store for season 6?

Rick and Morty is arguably one of the most unique television programs in today’s media landscape. The show has everything you could ask for in a series: beautiful animations, otherworldly storylines, humor that ranges from irreverent raunch to clever puns, and compelling characters, all working together to explore thought-provoking themes.

These elements were all present in the first five episodes of season six. The latest installment, at least so far, definitely lives up to the high entertainment standard that fans of the series have come to expect.

The new season offers the Smith family all kinds of wild adventures. Battling alien terrorists in an intergalactic arcade, Beth and her clone got a little too close for comfort, the family was forced to leave their original dimension, and Smith’s sleepwalking alter egos turned out to be formidable foes. With several more episodes to go, the show’s audience has good reason to be excited about the prospect of more classic sci-fi adventures.

A tribute to the dinosaur days of yesteryear in Juricksic Mort

We’ve seen all kinds of interesting creatures throughout the run of Rick and Morty, but we have yet to see an episode that focuses on dinosaurs. This is somewhat surprising given the sci-fi slant of the series, but when you consider that Rick has consistently been against time travel, the noticeable lack of prehistoric reptiles makes a little more sense. In the upcoming sixth episode of season six, “Juricksic Mort”, it’s possible that this will finally change.

Rick and Morty is no stranger to movie references. For example, in the second episode of season six, “Rick: A Mort Well Lived,” Summer channels her inner John McClane to a lot of die hard-obsessed alien terrorists. The title of the episode “Juricksic Mort” is clearly a tribute to Jurassic Parka movie Rick and Morty previously referenced in the third episode of its debut season, “Anatomy Park.”

Rick is the smartest man in the universe, but he is also one of the most hated. His intergalactic experiments and exploits have turned him into a number of powerful enemies, forcing the aging scientist to face many epic battles against his myriad of enemies.

“Full Meta Jackrick” is a reference to Stanley Kubrick’s classic Vietnam War film Full metal jacket, so it goes without saying that the episode will contain some conflict of some sort. The presence of the term meta in the title may indicate that the scuffle is taking place on a non-physical battlefield. It can take place in a simulation or, alternatively, in Rick’s mind, a concept previously explored in the episode “Rickternal Friendship of the Spotless Mort.”

A Weird Wonderful Family Christmas in Ricktional Mortpoon’s Rickmas Mortcation RickMortyXMas

Rick and Morty never shy to extinguish a holiday episode. The Smiths seem to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner at a rate well over once a year, and the Christmas bells are constantly ringing in the family’s quiet suburb.

One of the upcoming season’s six episodes will be titled “Ricktional Mortpoon’s Rickmas Mortcation,” a clear reference to National Lampoon’s Christmas Holiday. Rick isn’t quite the Christmas type, so it’ll be interesting to see what wild adventures he has in this holiday extravaganza.

A Rick in King Mortur’s Mort can see Rick and Morty in a whole new time period Medieval

As mentioned before, Rick doesn’t like time travel, but he is not above traveling to dimensions or planets with less technologically advanced civilizations. An upcoming episode titled “A Rick in King Mortur’s Mort” will likely feature some sort of medieval adventure.

Previously, in the season four episode “Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim’s Morty”, the Smiths were forced into a magical dimension after Rick had a forbidden relationship with the dragon he reluctantly bought for Morty. Perhaps this episode can re-introduce the audience to the dragon, or it could be unrelated, and see Rick and Morty looking for a Holy Grail-esque artifact.

Although there are only a handful of episodes left Rick and Morty season six, fans can rest assured that they won’t have the same wait times they’re used to between episodes of the series, as the showrunners have suggested new seasons will be released at a rate of one per year. If the second half of season six continues to be as entertaining as the first, fans will be more excited than ever to see the show return.

More hilarious tributes are to come and audiences will keep a close eye on the Smith family’s interdimensional and intergalactic exploits.
