Ayushmann Kurrana had an unconventional start to his film career when he debuted with Vicky Donor, based on the life of a sperm donor. He later became a pro at starring in films on taboo topics such as: Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, Bala, Badhaai Ho, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui etc. The common factor in all these movies is that while these movies were a bit risqué, they were still suitable for watching with the whole family. As a result, all of these films were U/A certified by the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC).
BREAKING: Doctor G Gets ‘A’ Certificate From CBFC; emerges as Ayushmann Khurrana’s first film to gain adult appreciation
Therefore, it will surprise fans and moviegoers to know that his upcoming film, Doctor G, emerges as Ayushmann Khurrana’s first film in his decade-long illustrious career to receive an ‘A’ rating! The film also features Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah and hits theaters on October 14.
A source told Bollywood Hungama“The film is about a gynecologist and is full of terms and jokes that were not family-friendly according to the CBFC members. They suggested the creators opt for an ‘A’ rating. The makers were not in favor of cut scenes and dialogue because it would have taken the spirit of the subject away. That’s why they decided to go for the adult rating.”
Interestingly, the CBFC didn’t ask for a cut after the creators approved the ‘A’ rating for Doctor G. The certificate was handed over to the producers on 4 October. The length of the film, as stated on the censorship certificate, is 124 minutes. In other words, Doctor G takes 2 hours and 4 minutes.
