That time I was reincarnated as slime, as one of the most popular isekai anime, consistently kept audiences entertained. After a spectacular second season, fans are more than ever eager to see a new installment in the franchise, especially the upcoming movie That Time I Was Reincarnated As Slime The Movie: Scarlet Bond. The film was announced on September 21, 2021, immediately after the end of the second season, and we now have a confirmed release date and additional information.


A trailer for the film was released earlier this March, causing a stir in the anime communities, and expectations for the film have skyrocketed, despite the fact that it is not yet clear whether the film is canon. Scarlet Bond: The Plot

Echoing the original anime setting, Rimuru Tempest founded the Jura Tempest Federation, a place for the peaceful coexistence of monsters and human kingdoms. Still, Rimuru seems to struggle to keep the peace even after evolving into a demon lord. The Scarlet Bond events take place immediately after the end of the second season and introduce an unexpected enemy – Hiiro, an Ogre survivor who also happens to be Benimaru’s brother.

A mysterious rise to power from the Queen sparks a conspiracy between the kingdoms as the setting shifts west to a land called Raja, and the broken Scarlet Bonds unite to fight the new enemy. According to the trailer, Hiiro appears to have come from Raja land and seeks help from Ogres of Tempest nation despite initially portraying him in an antagonistic role.

Scarlet Bond: The Cast & Crew

Yasuhito Kikuchi, known for his work on Infinite Stratos, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Macross Frontierand The Slime Diaries, is responsible for the directing department. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who contributed to Beyblade, Bungou Stray Dogsand Hajime no Ippo, oversees the screenplay. Hitoshi Fujima, who has worked on popular anime series such as Devil’s Line, White Album, Rosario + Vampireand basiliskwill handle Music Composition.

Yuichi Tanaka, known for his magical work on A certain magic index, Code Geass 2and Howl’s Moving Castle, will give his all as Chief Animation Director, mesmerizing audiences with stunning visuals while assisting the 8bit Animation Studio. While each department has experts to handle the project without delays and imperfections, some prominent collaborators are Ryouma Ebata (Character Design), Ayumi Sato (Art Director), Maki Saitou (Color Design), and Yumi Jinguji (Editing).

Majority of the original anime cast reprise their roles as their respective characters. To be more specific, Miho Okasaki as Rimuru Tempest, Makoto Furukawa as Benimaru, Megumi Toyoguchi as Rapahel (formerly known as Great Sage), Sayaka Senbongi as Shuna, MAO as Shion, Takuya Eguchi as Souei, Houchuu Ootsuka as Hakurou, Asuna Tomari as Gobta, Chikahiro Kobayashi as Ranga, Takahiro Sakurai as Diablo, etc. While these are the returning voice actors, we have a new cast for the characters who didn’t appear in the anime. Yuuma Uchida plays Hiiro and Riko Fukumoto expresses Towa’s intention with her majestic voice. There are a few minor character additions, such as Mobuji (Mitsuru Ogata), Raja Minister (Ken Uo), Chikuan (Shinpachi Tsuji), and Lacua (Subaru Kimura).

The franchise also revealed details about the film opening and ending songs. TRUE and Stereo Dive Foundation provided sensational vocals for the insertions”Jouka” and “SPARKLES“while MindaRyn played the opening theme song”Make me feel better.

That Time I Was Reincarnated as Slime: Scarlet Bond will hit theaters on November 25, 2022 and release worldwide in 2023. Series author Fuse is overjoyed that the film is being animated the way he never expected it to. When the film was announced, he shared his thoughts in an interview. he exclaimed,

“I started writing this work as a hobby, but it’s going to be made into a movie! I was so stunned at first because it felt almost unrealistic. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.”

The first movie in the . to be slime franchise, the hype is real, and with no idea when the announcement for the third season comes out, it would be a great addition to help the audience prepare for further upcoming adventures.
