Oscar Isaac confirms ‘It’s not the last we heard from Moon Knight’ in NYCC

Marvel Studios Moon Knightstarring Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, aka Moon Knight, May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly, aka Scarlet Scarab, Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, and Karim El Hakim and F. Murray Abraham as Khonshu, premiered on March 30, 2022. The series premiered the sometimes-Avenger, sometimes-Defender for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and quickly became a must-see TV over its six-week run. Despite the character’s popularity, Marc Spector (and his alters) was yet to be officially confirmed as a return to the MCU, but that changed today. During the Oscar Isaac Spotlight Panel on Sunday, October 9 at New York Comic Con, the actor And last but not least confirmed what fans have been waiting for, Moon Knight returns to the MCU.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“It’s not the last we heard from Moon Knight,” Issac said when asked by the moderator if fans can expect the character to return for a second season on Disney+. However, the actor wouldn’t confirm Marc Spector would return for another season, instead reiterating that it’s not the last we’ve seen of the system being Moon Knight. NYCC is the first official confirmation that Moon Knight is returning to the MCU. However, the cast and crew have given several hints since the end of season one this summer, such as a TikTok video released by Isaac showing him and Moon Knight Season 1 director Mohamed Diab apparently on location (and during the panel the actor dropped the bombshell the first time he was on set for seven months, so hey, maybe they even started scouting earlier this time).

Could Moon Knight appear in a Defenders reboot?

One possible way to return for Moon Knight, other than a second season, could be a Defenders series, special or movie. Moon Knight came across early in his career with the “greatest non-team in history,” starting in Defenders #47, “Night Moves!” by John Warner, Keith Griffen, Klaus Janson, David Kraft, Roger Slifer and John Constanza. During Defenders #48 and #49, Moon Knight continued to communicate with the team, whose roster included Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Hellcat and the Hulk.

Meanwhile, the Marvel Television adaptation of The defenders featured a team featuring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Since the most recent episode of She-Hulk: Lawyer featured the full reintroduction of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock (after a cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home), maybe a Defenders MCU revival is on the way… and Moon Knight would be a great (and precedent) addition to the roster!
